It’s no secret that democracy demands an educated public for its vitality and viability. The electorate needs to be people of well-rounded education in government, science, and the arts.

The “prospect of [a] permanent union” depends on education George Washington

“The whole people must take upon themselves the education of the whole people” –  John Adams

“Above all things ... the education of the common people [should] be attended to” –  Thomas Jefferson

Democracy depends upon education.

Political power depends upon getting votes.

The soft underbelly of democracy would be an administration that benefited by disinvesting in education.

Let’s hope there are enough educated voters to recognize the danger and stop that from happening while our democracy exists.
